Battery's dead....

In more days than one.....A week of dramas one way or another, a flood -less said the better-,djing at a fashion party for iqons.com - i've not been that drunk in a while and when my kids woke me up the next morning by jumping on my head i realised why! - a gig in Brixton...at a COMEDY club -which was character-building to say the least! - and my camera only let me take 3 lousy photos before running out so all i've got to show you is three noncy-posy photos of me max pam and lilly which could've been taken ANYWHERE!!! Liliana's new hairdo is well represented here and as it is rather wonderful deserves a mention but i'm slightly ashamed by these gurning close-ups which don't really represent quite an exciting week, but then who wants to see a drain being cleared.........?

Dresden Moll

Hi everyone! I'm back from my long weekend in Dresden and now I need a holiday!! A lot of wurst, a lot of beer and TOO much party ganzen nacht!! Lu was mein host and he showed me all around the city - even though Dresden was completely flattened during WWII in some areas the old buildings still stand and they are so beautiful. All the leaves were orange and yellow. Very beautiful.

One night we went to three parties - the first a punk club [yes I know, me and guitars and ESPECIALLY PUNK] but I saw a really cool band. Three girls calling themselves
Sugar Crash. The drummer was so tiny, every time she hit the kick drum she would bounce into the air - I dunno how she did it and sing! The singer is Electric Evelyn - she is a big girl - and she just didnt care. She was wearing pink lurex leggings, and a purple "body tard". She was like BOOM! all over the stage. Then there were another two parties but as the night went on, I remember less and less.

I think the face of my friend Bernd should tell the whole story...
Then every day to get over the night before, would be a good German breakfast waiting for me when I got up

Now I can't wait to find out what Max and Pippa have been up to while I was away. I have some more cool videos to put together of Max talking about his recent trip to Hong Kong and Pippa wearing some more hits from the Eley Kishimoto archive. More soon!

EK Press Day

Today wasn't so much of a stress out cause both shops are closed on Monday's now which leaves me trouble free to do the paperwork in the office at 6 Brewer Street. There were some really bad rehearsals coming up from the Soho Review Bar so I was only too glad to pop over to Shop At Maison Bertaux to see how Charlene was going with the Eley Kishimoto press day. We turned the whole shop over the Eley Kishimoto and Village Press and cleared out everything for the day and they filled the shop with the entire SS07 collection for the world's press to check out.

Weird, cool, amazing and mental all at once!

Loving these socks!!!

Super Bag Alert, perfect for a dirty weekend!

You can even get a frock, bag, shoes and knickers all in a matching print.

And they were as delicious as they looked!

Pippa and Nathaniel also raced by to drop off some more Eley Kishimoto stock - shoes, daps and all! Pippa and I will post more news about that tomorrow!

London Tourist

After spending last weekend in Paris, I had the chance to be return good host to my dear friends DJ Goon and his girlfriend Fanny. On Friday night, Goon was play at the Old Blue Last at Prancehall's party night DO IT! back to back with Paul [aka Brains.] There were loads of people there, and I always worry the floor will collapse there with people jumping up and down. Ruff Sqwad came down and MC'd for a while - and I was too hyped when I got a picture of myself with Scholar. He gave me a kiss, held my hand and called me baby. I'm well easy to to please. BUT THEN after his set, Jammer let me take a picture of us both

but OOOPS!!! it looks like Jammer is giving me the double fisted finger!! Hahaha!

Hmmm... we all drank a bit too much and our early morning start was delayed by only a COUPLE of hours, then Goon, Fanny and I went shopping. Seriously we went everywhere INCLUDING Shop At Maison B. I was dying to show my friends where I work so we went down at the end of the day to visit Pippa and have a glass of Rose. While there Fanny found a jacket she liked. And I have to say - WE SOLD AN APC JACKET BACK TO A FRENCH WOMAN!! Yeah!!! We must be doing something right!

What is it about French females that make you feel like commiting a quick murder? Gorgeous?! Cute?! Effortlessly cool?!

And here is Fanny in the black cab on the way home clutching her cake box - still looking gorgeous!!

KT writes home!

Well I got nothing to say for myself, but we got a great email from Katrina "Rumpelstiltskin" Tran today that I laughed and laughed over!!!

Hey Max, Pippa and Davo...
Oh one week down and how I miss you guys.
Cor blimey when did Melbourne turn so BOGAN! As soon as stepped off the plane it was like walking back into an episode of Kath and Kim in Fountain Gate Shopping Centre!
Had a horror flight, but Singapore Airport is genius...there was this mental ballroom dancing display going on, but I was buried in all the cheap duty free- yes please!
So I'm back and was horizontal for 5 days to get over the jet lag. I stupidly went to an exhibition the night I got home for Jeff McFetridge (NYC artist) and was so overwhelmed by seeing everyone that I almost passed out. It was terrible, plus it is getting rather warm here. Cath had to drive me home, but not before dropping her car keys down the handbrake chute and us having to wait 2 hours for the RACV to come rescus us...not a good start home! Me a blubbering flunkey at a cool art show, and Cath loosing her car keys. What are we like?
When I finally felt semi-presentable to the world outside, I went to see Animal Collective play, which could have been a bad move since they were so shite when i saw them at the Scala....they were fab...thank goodness.
Before the show, my mate Josh invited me to dinner. Josh is a cameraman and he has been working on a screen adaptation of 'Where the Wild Things Are'...I'm sure you all read it as kids. Its genius and so beautifully illustrated... Anyhoo...so I meet them at the Corner Hotel which is now all posh and done up (use to be an old man boozer). Josh is with all his film boffins and he introduces me to the four dudes at the table. I proceed to sit next to 'Adam'...who is from New York and who works in film.
40 minutes into dinner, I am getting slowly very pissed and 'Adam' thinks I am crazy cos i'm saying all these awful things about movie stars (all knowledge gleaned from Heat and Hello of course) and how Marie Antoinette was a great film (I saw on the plane) and I wonder why everyone is getting so uncomfortable...
Turns out that 'Adam' is none other than Spike Jonze...one-time Mr. Sofia Coppola and Oscar winning director! Thank fuck I didn't say that I hated any of his films! What a dick!!!!! How stupid am I , but I swear he looked nothing like the dude on the fatboy slim video...
Oh dear.... I did find out that he liked the Vicar of Dibley and Father Ted, so at least he was impressed by my knowledge of english humour.
So one week in, one celebrity humiliation down. I'm proud.
Missing you guys and London town...have a coffee eclair for me.
KT xxx

It doesn't get much better than this.....

Still reeling from a weekend in which i was treated to two shows by two of my favourite, most inspirational exceptional FABULOUS performers. A bizarre two nights in a row spent at the Barbican, on Saturday night to see the last night of Mmm...by Michael Clark and his dance company, which i actually saw for the first time in '92 because i'm so ancient, and which Stevie Stewart got Nathaniel and me a ticket for. I've been going to see Michael Clark shows since the 80's and I would challenge anyone to out-fan me, I've seen them dance while The Fall played, Brix Smith memorably playing her bass atop a huge burger....while Laibach cranked out a phenomenal, LOUD, set which made your hair stand on end...with Leigh Bowery, singing and dancing and David Holah swinging on the trapeze, and it was always such an exciting event with club people, music people, artists and dance fans all crammed in like you would never see at a more traditional night at Saddler's Wells, or the Roundhouse which was incredible as he danced to Big Bottom, a wall of bass sound in a performance which was really raw....i probably shouldn't go on and on and on as i so easily could!!! If you ever get a chance to see him - GO!!!!!!

And the other amazing thing about going is that you run into friends you haven't seen for ages, like Princess Julia and Jeffrey Hinton, who I never see often enough...

Then I had another train-spotter-fan moment because Ellen van Schuylenburch came up to give Jeffrey a kiss while i was photographing him and she's one of Michael Clark's first dance partners.....well I was excited!!!

On Sunday I made a cake with the boys and a huge roast and then went with my friend Nick to see Antony's show Turning which i can't stop thinking about....cos it was so perfect!! In case you don't know about it he sang while a procession of women took it in turns to step onto a slowly revolving platform, flanked by cameras the images from which were projected onto a huge screen at the back of the stage. Some of the women were really androgenous, some were really exquisite drag queens, some you couldn't tell which, but they were all put on this revolving pedestal where they looked beautiful, strong, serene, with only the occasional smile breaking, it was really moving in a way, but antony always has that effect on me. And then i bumped into some of my friends that had been at Michael Clark, went for a drink at the after-party but never plucked up the courage to talk to Kembra Pfahler from The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black who i've always thought was amazing....
But i did get a great t-shirt!!!!

And shop news is that Xavier delivered some amaaaazing vintage sunglasses today, here's him and Jonathan, wearing their favourites, Jonathan and i have a standing coffee morning date on Wednesday mornings where we gossip, laugh alot and sometimes share cakes...I love the new shop!

Did i tell you Sacha from Hyde S.K. brought some fantastic brooches when she delivered the bags? They're great pinned on a bag too, she has her drawings carved into wooden shapes and bells and bears hanging off them and bone feathers, they're so beeeaaouuuutiful!!!!

Come by and try one on and you can stop to enjoy my tragic exhibition of old michael clark flyers on the notice board - lucky you!!!

Chez Moi!

Well! I wasn't gone long, but my weekend in Paris was so nuts and wonderful that I am totally exhausted and really glad to be back in my little bed in London hanging out watching TV.

But back in Paris, I got to hook up with some of my best friends [anti-clockwise from top left] Livia, DJ Koyote, Bitch Ass Darius, your truely and DJ Goon.
I was also thrilled to meet Teki Latex - one of the guys from French group TTC who has made some great music recently. Check out this video [thanks youtube] and maybe you will see why I think Teki is so fab.

And he talks about some of the people he has worked with for the album - Lio!!!! MON DIEU!!!!
And if you are into booty bass, miami, baltimore, ghetto tech, chicago house, italo disco and have a sense of humour you will probably love this:

from DJ Goon and DJ Koyote of
Diamond Grills.

The Look at London College of Fashion

Tonight Paul Gorman, author of the periodical The Look, with Max and Pippa talked about the history of their boutiques in Soho. LOADS of people turned up and so the few hours I spent up late last night cobbling together the slide show for the talk were worth it. If you want to see a pictorial history from Shop to Maison B click here until I find a more permanent site for it. When you view the pages, remember to set your browser view to "full screen".

After the talk, All About Eve Babitz gave a performance and then Max and Pippa signed their pictures in
The Look

On the way home, Paul and I stopped off to check the alley way nearby our house to see what the latest graffiti.

I swear this wasn't me that wrote that. But who did - this is THE TOTAL BOMB in so far as scribbling on the wall goes.

I'm off to Paris for the week to see my friend Bitch Ass Darius spin at Triptyque organised by Diamond Grilling - my friends DJ Koyote and DJ Goon. I'm also supposed to buy a Lanvin bow tie for Max. Let's hope I don't have to nurse a hangover so serious on Saturday I can't even get out of bread for some Brioche!!!
