MILANO

Hey Folks

I am like TOTALLY TOTALLY JEALOUS about what Pippa has been up to while I was at a trade show in Milan! OMG - can you imagine who she met?! [see below!] I know that she will be a little interested to know that I met Emilio Fiorucci in Italy and his lady trundling around the show in a navy blue sweater and jeans, and his wife was in a navy blue mac and a Marimekko print cotton bag over her shoulder.

I have to say I'm not as enthralled with Milan as I am with Paris, Hamburg or Hobart and I was so relieved to be home again but there were some cool parts:

Two nights we went to a restaurant called Bagutta for dinner. Here is what an Italian calls scampi! Bagutta is a restaurant with an amazing history and is worth a visit mostly for the amazing art work all over the walls in frames and the literary awarded books in shelves in the hallway. The restuarant opened in 1924 and attracted a lot of artists, journalists, writers, actors etc etc. A group of them met their regularly, so regularly in fact that they decided to start a system of fines if someone didn't make it. The money was used to start a literary award - "BAGUTTA" for their favourite book of each year. The Bagutta is the oldest literary award in Italy. On the walls the paintings are from the nights awards were presented or the group met to honour someone prestigious. One of the waiters also told me that sometimes the owner of the restaurant would swap artwork for a meal from one of the diners instead of payment. They styles of this artwork as it changes through the decades is fabulous.

Some examples of the artwork.

Bagutta wasn't my favourite food place though - I prefered this other fish restaurant we went to and I can't remember the name. Check out how cute my dessert was though!

I did get some time to party on one night - and it seems that in Italy, Italo will never die. I so wanted Max to see these two party people.

And here is my new best friend I met at the club, Chiara, throwing the new sign I showed her. She has an amazing collection of glasses frames - she doesn't even need to wear glasses...

So that is enough from me.

xx Emma
