BIRTHDAY CAKE - WE ATE IT

I dropped in on Pippa today. I can't wait to see the video she was working on with the latest A.P.C. and Sonia buying expeditions featured! I went in and grabbed some coffee and a banana eclair [cut into two very exact sized pieces] while Johan was presenting me with a fake bottle of Lanson Champagne in Maison Bertaux. I could just sit and look at all the cakes all day.

Over in the States Rick Ross also loves cake and an entourage of other rappers there too:

Maybe they should jump on a jet with all that money they say they have and visit Pippa and I in Maison B and let us feed them some cakes from upstairs. Though maybe they mean money, or cocaine, or chilling with their girlfriends instead of chillin wit their boys*.

I mean here is the chorus** by Flo Rida [gettit? Flow Rider in Florida?!]:
I could spend a hundred thousand in a day,
Getting cake er day (er day), er day (er day),
Comin through yo hood in that 7 tre,
Getting cake er day (er day), er day (er day),
I told ya'll, I don't want no cake on my birthday,
I want my cake er day (maan), er day (maan),
I could spend a hundred thousand in a day,
Getting cake er day (er day), er day (er day)

Some of them are big guys. This could be from eating a lot of cake?! Does anyone else feel me on this?

I started a Flickr group recently to liberate all of you who were wanting to take picture of your food but were too scared cause you thought I was gonna hate on your for peepin' my steelo. But NO! Check out WE ATE IT! Then ask to join the group and start submitting your pictures! Already some friends have tracked each other down by accident - Ina Featherbed from New York joined the group and then realised that ..Philippa.. in London was a pal of hers and they are back in touch. Cool or what?

Here is a selection of WE ATE IT pics to whet your appetite!

Okay so that is all for now, let's hope Pippa's video gets online soon!

xx Emma

Freestylin' down south....

What fun we had!

The Look at the Lost Society on Thursday was such a blast! Paul Gorman came into work last Saturday to discuss finer details but we all got totally sidetracked by Rita, who I hadn't seen in ages...

She's so lovely and always steals the show...good job she didn't turn up on the nite, you know my history of being upstaged by dogs!

Birthday boy Michael came down to show me his new birthday trainers with Lucy and Sefton on Saturday too...they'd all been having a tea-party but didn't want me to be left out.

Snazzy!
Here's a very romantic picture of the bride and groom-to-be:

Is that a banana on your t shirt or are you just pleased to see me?

So, I know you all want to know what went down down south at the Lost Society on thursday nite....it is SO worth the schlep, and if you don't come next time you're just lazy lazy lazy!!! First of all the venue is so fabulous, a barn that was a hang out for hippies in the 70's and still has all the old beams, a little courtyard which is a joy now the summer's here and a STAGE which pleased the Babitz's no end!

Max and Pippa warmed up proceedings playing as eclectic a mix as ever,

and All About Eve Babitz did a song every half hour, and if you're a fan of their George and Dragon evenings you'll know this is their unique, trademarked format - very avant-garde!

All wonderful so far....then things got H.O.T! Kevin Rowlands hit the decks playing a blinding set, old soul classics, Bowie, Roxy Music and began singing over the fade-outs.......and as you know I don't need much encouragement to have a go as it were, and when he invited me to "freestyle" duet-style with him up I hopped! This lady knows no shame! It was the best fun...especially to the tracks I didn't know - you had to be there!

Here we are giving it some! And here's me hoggin the mic!

That's the first time that's EVER happened I assure you!!!
I gave Paul Gorman a few tips on his djing technique....

....gave Nathaniel a quick cuddle in between my vox-spots!!....

...gave Sefton a supportive squeeze while warning him not to smile too hard...

...watched Jasmine dance for a bit....

...had a photo face-off with Caz....

....had a laugh with the bearded ones....

...oh I could go on and on about the good-times but I fear you might get too jealous.....

So instead I'll show you a picture of Michelle's Birthday cake!

And what a cake it was.....and within 10 minutes Mentorn had expertly carved it into THIS!

I can tell you it tasted DIVINE! But by then the boys and I had been for a picnic on Clapham Common with the Gormans, finishing up with double scoop ice cream cornets, grazed on mounds of mini-eclairs, tarts, not to mention croissants at Michelle's do BEFORE the grand entrance of the cake! There's only so much sugar a body can take.....

Here is Duke hitting the sugar wall (not in the Sheena Easton sense! More in the euphoria brought on by excess consumption sense!). I haven't eaten anything sweet since although I do find myself this evening experimenting with rhubarb fool.....

Oh yeah, Jasmine had her hair cut and it was as shiny as GLASS!!! Lookit!!!

Death Metal, ice-cream and the boot and flogger......

My weekend at the seaside was pretty great, managed to fit in a birthday party, a blow down on the seafront and an Eagles of Death Metal gig with my sister who was so jetlagged but threw herself into the sweaty fray but announced the next morning that she "had nothing left..." as she lay in the foetal position! Duke and Joe breathed fresh sea air for a change and you can see from the picture how much they appreciated it....

This is the paddling pool that I used to noodle the summer months away in when I was a kid and now I take the boys to when we visit but it was looking a bit algae-ridden and lonely....I love the seaside out of season.

The Boot and Flogger is one of my favourite drinking dens in London, Mark Eley is one of my favourite people so his birthday celebration there was a perfect combination......

Tida "commissioned" a birthday cake and took charge of portion control......

......and Wak made sure the tankards were freshened.....

They all went on to more fun but I was only down the road from home so I left them tumbling into a fleet of taxis I think headed for the George and Dragon, glad I had an early night because the next day we got deliveries in the cake shop from APC, Eley Kishimoto AND Sonia Rykiel bijoux which i had to book in price etc, all the boring stuff but not fun with a hangover.......I'll post some pics next week, I'm suffering from getting in from Jonathan's birthday bash in the early hours of this morning and I'm not good for much.............yawn!

More cake and another champagne for me.....

Yesterday i was a bit rubbish and so was my camera so i thought i'd collect some pictures from Liza and Emma for my birthday party blog....hope someone gets me a new camera for christmas! We all congregated in the cake shop and i have to start with a picture of my stupendous cake which alex got me from Maison Bertaux and was DIVINE!!!!

How much did we love it? It's one of those great cakes where it's impossible to give anyone a slither and you have to have an enormous piece....don't you emma?

James and Daren Babitz came and as the bubbly flowed we were glad we decided not to play a little gig...what were we thinking in the first place? Ima and Paul got into a deep discussion about beards and photoshop....

Max made sure he didn't miss out when the cake came round in between runs to the Vintage House.....

...here he is talking to Paul Long, probably testing his pop knowledge.....
Alex gave me an amazing handbag shaped like a fish which i wished i had photographed just for the look on it's face!!!

Duke and Joe came to my party which made it all the more.....er....LOUD!! They were so excited to be invited as you can see from the crazed looks in their eyes!!!

Duke....

....and Joe!
We then wobbled down to Trisha's where she presented me with a display pannetone, obviously the twins weren't with us by then!...and we had a lorra laughs, especially when Max started singing along with George Michael!!
I really enjoyed it, it's always great to have all your favourite people gathered together and getting along, my ears hurt from laughing and my cheeks burned from champagne as i got the number 1 back to south london........pippa xxxx

BIRTHDAY BURLESQUE

I rushed down to The World According To... to help out with the super sample sale after work at my other job. Between Max, Pippa and I we polished off two bottles of wine as a prelude to my birthday celebrations tomorrow. Regular readers of this blog will know however Pippa and I need little excuse to reach for the cork screw! Later all the girls from my other job met at The World According To... cause we planned to go for dinner at the Vietnamese on Wardour Street before they went off to the Lady Luck Club.

Here is Jo, Alex and Jess all raring to go to the party PLUS a shot of my birthday cake made by Pattacake herself Jane "Baps" Lewis. YUM.

Anyway I am sure there will be more ridiculous pictures after this weekend!. In the meantime come down to The World According To... we have Birdy and Silas t's ranging from £5 to £10 HOT! Jeans for £15 and £20! MENTAL and all our AW 06 is already on sale in a pre Christmas clear out. Pick up a Sonia sweater even though you probably shouldn't be spending your Christmas money yet Hahaha.
