Decision Reached

Was going to get the red patent Repettos but finally decided on the Bardot black and white check ones instead....

Emma was freaking out seeing me padding around in flats - according to her she's seen me at my true height maybe eight times in as many years....it unsettles her!

Nasty As U Wanna Be
EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO MIN INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE
Organized by Marisa Olson & the Nasty Nets with support from Rhizome.org

Identifying themselves as an "internet surfing club," Nasty Nets is an international ensemble representing some of the most active artists working online today. Together their work both celebrates and critiques the internet by employing original and appropriated imagery and audio, such as animated gifs, YouTube hacks, html cheat codes, and other found and edited material, offering a poignant and humorous take on contemporary digital visual culture.

This event will serve as a release party for their new dvd, which features videos for dvd players, copious digital files to be opened on personal computers, and a type-in website by Michael Bell-Smith. Tonight's screening will feature videos from the dvd and additional works by members of this 25-person crew.

Nasty Nets was founded by artists John Michael Boling, Joel Holmberg, Guthrie Lonergan, and Marisa Olson, and includes members Peter Baldes, Michael Bell-Smith, Camille Paloque Bergés, Kevin Bewers- dorf, Brian Blomerth, Charles Broskoski, Petra Cortright, Chris Coy, Paul B. Davis, Michael Guidetti, Britta Gustafson, Travis Hallenbeck, Chance Jackson, Lektrogirl, Tom Moody, Javier Morales, Paul Slocum, James Whipple, Robert Wodzinski, and Damon Zucconi. The Nasty Nets DVD is generously supported by Rhizome. Discs will be sold at a discount to NYUFF ticket-holders, at the festival, while supplies last. - Marisa Olson

My song and video that I made for it THE RESULT is going to be screened. If you want to check it out for yourselves, the link is here, but I would have to say that reports from my friends who work in offices was that they saw the first few moments and said "I think I better finish watching that at home." The video is made from culling other peoples clips from YouTube and editing them together.

Fashion and Food

I have to say that my photos of night-time shenanigans are getting pretty good, ever since Sarah showed me that slow syncro trick on my camera! These photos from the Eley Kishimoto fashion week party where Max and I were djing wouldn't look out of place gracing a Steven Saban article on hot night-life and beautiful people! I used to love his column in Details, my favourite was one illustrated by a fantastic picture of Halston with a disco light glinting in his sunglasses....oooh or the one with Margaux and Mariel Hemingway leaving a club, Margaux baring one breast as her spaghetti-strap fell down....

It was so great to have Katrina back in London...gotta catch up with her properly this week...

Me Emma, Jasmine and Sarah went out for amazing Tapas in Mornington Crescent on Saturday night and laughed and laughed and laughed.....and laughed!!

Until my nose caught on fire...

The restaurant is called El Parador and doesn't look anything special from the outside but the food is diviiiiiiiiine!!! The vegetable dishes were my favourites, artichokes, spicey patates, aubergine and potato patties and the hot bean and garlic mush to start was delicious!!!

Anyway, if you've had a rough week, tapas with the girls is the best antidote to the blues....I recommend!!

Yes, I'm wearing the new APC polka dot dress in these pics, have you seen the new delivery yet? No? Where have you been???

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME

Ahhh! Back in the driving seat at the office upstairs in the universe of The World According To... and Shop At Maison Bertaux. I feel like I was away for a zillion years, but really I just spent the last weekend DJing in Hamburg. I had been a long time since I was with my Hamburg Homies, but it felt like only yesterday since I saw them all there. The reason for me hopping over there was to DJ at the best club in Europe [actually de:bug magazine listed it as second in like the first time in 5 years this year...] and you may think "Oh wow! What the hell can the best club in Europe look like?" Well folks... Here it is:

The Golden Pudel.
This place is like a little charm on the bank of the Elbe river that from the outside looks like some crappy shack. Well actually it is kind of a crappy shack. But that is just how everyone likes it.

Here are two of my best friends, Superdefekt and Booty Carrell. Booty Carrell is one of the coolest dressers on hear but for proof check my whole flickr set from Hamburg. Total white trash pimp style.
I played on Friday night with Prokoller and Booty Carrell and then on Sunday with Superdefekt and my good buddies from Dresden, Mash Gordon also did a live gig.

Unfortunately I missed most of their set cause I ended up helping out behind the bar which had been a fantasy job of mine for some time.

Anyway the other thing other than The Golden Pudel to check out in Hamburg is THE BUNKER:

It is right on Feldstrasse - you can't miss it when you come out of the U-Bahn at the Feldstrasse stop. It still stand because apparently the only way to destroy it would be to use a huge amount of explosives cause the walls are so thick. Unfortunately, this would also take out half the surrounding suburbs.

The other thing you gotta have when you are in German is a freshly baked pretzel!

On Sunday morning we went over to a Bavarian friends house for a Bavarian traditional brekkie - white sausages cooked in hot water and loads of beer. We even ate the sausage in the traditional way where you have to score the skin of the sausage, then peel it off before you can eat it.
But it has to be the weirdest faux sexual experience of my life - you are left with something uncannily like a condom in one hand and in the other you have a warm semi solid phallic object that you then have to put in your mouth and eat in front of a lot of half drunk Germans who think it is cute and funny to make the girl from London do this at 10am in the morning. Blurgh!

The other thing you might want to check out in Hamburg is the Reeperbahn. Just for all the weird things you might see for sale in the shop along the way:

In other news, the other week I went to 7 Year Glitch vs Dirty canvas - but only cause Paul was Djing. Ruff Squad MC'd and then Tempa T turned up for a go.

Tempa T has the coolest fade but a shame he only has one jumper. For more pics from the night check
here.

Finally - I bought: THE NEW A.P.C. GREY DRESS, THE A.P.C. YELLOW LEATHER WALLET, THE A.P.C. STRIPEY LOGO T, THE A.P.C. KNITTED RAFFIA BAG BUT THE A.P.C. SIZE 40 DOLLY SHOES IN BLACK DIDN'T FIT SO SOME OTHER LUCKY GIRL IS GOING TO GET THEM. ARGGGGGHH!! Gutted.

Chez Moi!

Well! I wasn't gone long, but my weekend in Paris was so nuts and wonderful that I am totally exhausted and really glad to be back in my little bed in London hanging out watching TV.

But back in Paris, I got to hook up with some of my best friends [anti-clockwise from top left] Livia, DJ Koyote, Bitch Ass Darius, your truely and DJ Goon.
I was also thrilled to meet Teki Latex - one of the guys from French group TTC who has made some great music recently. Check out this video [thanks youtube] and maybe you will see why I think Teki is so fab.

And he talks about some of the people he has worked with for the album - Lio!!!! MON DIEU!!!!
And if you are into booty bass, miami, baltimore, ghetto tech, chicago house, italo disco and have a sense of humour you will probably love this:

from DJ Goon and DJ Koyote of
Diamond Grills.

SCHWEINER ROCK!

Well now it is my turn to complain about being tired. But I have been in Liege, Brussels DJing at a party and dancing til 6.30 am, then rushing back on the train, to Brussels and nearly missing the Eurostar - which wouldn't have been so horrible - I'll tell you about all the incredible restaurants in Brussels one day that I have been to. But first I will tell you about my favourite thing in Belgium:

I feel like Alice in Wonderland with everything bigger and smaller and all the beers said "DRINK ME".

The party was by
L'armée des bonbons the brain child of DJ Motorcross. Every one who performs at these events makes a bit nutso weirdo noisy electronic music - some like circus music, some love ballads, some like gabba and others, like my new favourite - Dresden band Mash Gordon who make punk with a table FULL of electronic stuff and a guitar. Which is rich coming from me who can be quoted as saying "I hate all music with guitars." Maybe it is the pig masks the guys wear on stage that helps.

Discobernd - Hog On!!

Me - all sweaty in a Mash Gordon sandwich with Discobernd on the right [cute] and Lu Weed on my left [SUPER CUTE]

It is really great to get away and do my [not so] secret music career stuff. It was also great the time Pippa came with me and was singing on a disused warship wearing rubber knickers in Hamburg come to think of it! But I am looking forward to now rolling into bed and finding out what the latest gossip from the shop is tomorrow

xx Emma
