"Is it Halloween......?

....cos there certainly are a lot of witches out tonight!" That's one of my favourite Pete Burns quotes!

And indeed there were many witches out on Sunday night at Ponystep! Who cares if we were a week early? I was going for a Bonnie Parker-meets-goth look.....gave one of my old wigs a shake out (the boys have been playing with my collection of wigs a little too enthusiastically, I could hardly get a brush through it!), and stepped out gingerly in a beautiful old 20's dress Nanny Van gave me a few years ago but manages to shed sequins with every step....

Rudy and Nahid had surpassed themselves with Burton-esque half-face skeleton make-up - I was so impressed!

Richard chose to accessorize with a pumpkin-coloured Giles scarf.....has to be said he didn't last long, as his head got hotter and his neck itchier he decided to retire it early....

Jonjo gave it subtle-yet-effective-fatal-wound.....

And some (i.e.Jack and Troyboy) gave a nod to the proceedings with a slutty smokey eye...

Gwen's concession to Halloween came by way of Lene Lovich-style screams while gyrating in a black leotard - utterly AMAZING! Here she is hitching a lift to the bar....

This isn't the last you'll hear about Halloween on this blog I'm guessing....I'm off to Kent for some more childish shenanigans at the weekend. Kids are a great excuse to give it a bit of American overboard! But then you don't need an excuse to wig-up and don a bit of black....ask Stella....

MAXKLEOPATRA

Today I went down to Shop At Maison B to see Max who I hadn't seen in a long time due to the dedication to my DIY capers at home. When I sat down for a coffee and a catch up look what Max had to show me on YouTube - Dead or Alive live on stage WITH MAX AS KEYBOARD PLAYER in the band!! YES THAT IS MAX AS THE VIDEO STILL!!

I swear I haven't laughed so much in ages! And yes! That Rolex is for life baby!
So the one in the Nukleopatra hair is Pete Burns back in the day he still brushed his wigs. The one in the red wig I can't remember who Max said that was - but I was laughing telling Max to tell David Morris it looks like him. The other keyboard player with the asymetric vest, moustach and goatee is Jeyjon a friend of the Shop. Max is the one wearing a vest with two straps really working the keys at about 3:40 mins into the video.

East for a feast!!!

Max and i were playing records at the George and Dragon last night and it was quite a party as Jonjo was celebrating his birthday so the tables were groaning under quite a spread, including those hedgehogs of cocktail sticks with cheese and SAUSAGES, not your traditional pineapple which was lili's twist on a classic!

Here's Daryoush taking his role as boyfriend/host very seriously and offering the guests cheesy canapes!
I was there from early so helped spear a few cheese cubes then warmed things up with a little cilla black and pp arnold....I hadn't realised Jonjo was having a party so it was a treat to see him, i remember us giving Jonjo the birthday bumps at Smashing YEARS ago when he was a scrap of a 15 year old and we had to bump him 18 times in case the bar staff clocked that he was under age!!!!

And it was great to see him sitting between his mum and nan in a purple glitter wig, grazing on his nibbles!

Max turned up fashionably late and proceeded to liven up the proceedings with banging house, his first record was "that's the way i like it" by Dead or Alive and it wasn't the last time Pete Burns made an appearance on the wheels of steel! Max is the only person Richard lets mix at the George - although i've seen Nathaniel burn up the turntables with some inspired mash-ups - which puts him in the category of dj as apposed to chancer with an interesting/eclectic record collection which is my forte...

Then towards the end we were doing one-on-one-off which is always fun as you can run with a theme or completely kill someone's vibe man!!!! I like killing the Scissor Sisters with Noel Coward or Carol Channing and Max likes to murder Lil' John with Madonna!!!!! Then we shared a cab home and talked all the way home about what a GREAT set we played!!!! Aaaah, the sweet sound of self-congratulation!!!! And the other thing that has happened is that I usually have to dj in my glasses now as my eyesight deteriorated due to my advancing years!!! Still, they're Cutler and Gross and i love 'em! Speak soon, madame xxxx

I <3 SOHO

Today was super busy at work. It started off a really sucky day cause Paul had crashed my computer in the night and didn't bother to fix it so I spent my first waking hour restarting everything :( then realising he had my laptop case at his studio so I hate to take my laptop to work wrapped in a towel in my bag :(( - we've ALL been there! technology huh?!

By the end of my day, I was all cheery again. After work I went over to Maison B and had a couple of bottles of Blush Rose with Pippa, Nathaniel and Paul. I got a sneak preview of the next season Eley Kishimoto collection cause Fiona had set it up in Maison B for a buying appointment. I tell you already I'm going SICK for some of the prints! They are the BEST YET!! Anyway P, N and P had a good gossip and a laugh about nothing and everything.

Paul and I went and had dinner at Aldo's. One of the guys in there has the coolest slogan tshirt "Trattoria da Aldo" printed black on white in the most gangsta rubbish clip art font. I spend the whole evening in there eating and wonder how I could get his tshirt.

Then on the way home I was thinking about the best things about Soho. And I figured you know you are in Soho when:
1] You are out for dinner and you need to pee and the toilets are down two flights of stairs in a basement where your head hits the ceiling and the walls have rising damp three quarters of the way up.
2] You spy a tranny handing out flyers to G-A-Y on Old Compton Street wearing a gold lurex dress hobbling either from her platforms, or her knackers as big as a horse strapped between her legs.
3] Three nutty New Zealanders / Melbournians make you a flat white and a vegemite bagel for breakfast talking about John Farnham and Dave Dobbin at Flat White on Berwick St.
4] Some tramp tries to sell you his "last copy" of what looks to be the Big Issue but is actually ES magazine or something he found in the trash for 2 quid while you drink outside the Coach and Horses with your mates.
5] To get the tube home after work, you have to crowd surf to actually get in the station [Leicester Square in a Friday] or step over a gaggle of pierced teenagers dressed in neon pink and black queuing to see Trivium or Sugarbabes [or both] at the Astoria [Tottenham Court Road]
6] A cute Japanese couple stop you and ask for directions to Bond/Slam City Skates/The World According To... cause the want to buy Silas and Maria
7] You see Pete Burns in Ballans whooping it up
8] Quite a smartly dressed man scurries out of a nearby alley way with his plain plastic shop bag [opaque!] too flushed to make eye contact with you and he smells a bit boozy. It is only 11am.
9] It is the weekend and you have found THE PIECE OF CAKE covered with THE MOST PERFECT STRAWBERRIES and THE BEST CUP OF TEA FOR TWO on Greek Street but you can could actually kid yourself you are in Paris from Maison Bertaux, then pop downstairs and buy and A.P.C. smock.
10] There are no chicken bones on the street. The only "Chicken Cottage" is the kind that goes on in the men's toilet on Broadwick Street.
